Mary Jane Bennett Baxley
Mary Jane Bennett Baxley, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, is a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and Austin College in Sherman, Texas. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science. Furthering her education, she obtained a Master of Arts in Public History from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Now retired from her position at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Mary Jane dedicates her time to genealogy research, a passion she credits to her family’s rich history and the captivating stories her father shared about their pioneering ancestors. Her commitment to preserving and exploring family history is reflected in her leadership roles, including a five-year tenure as president of Heritage Seekers, a Little Rock club. Additionally, she has contributed her expertise to various organizations, holding board positions and actively participating in their growth and development. This blend of academic excellence and a deep-rooted love for history and genealogy defines Mary Jane’s remarkable journey and her ongoing contributions to the field.
