Arkansas Prior Birth Index, price varies by volume ($60-$95) – These are the fifteen volumes of index of early birth records. The Arkansas Genealogical Society is indexing a set of birth certificates filed between 1942 and 1967 from the original certifiates at the Vital Records Office of the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services. Due to Arkansas law, births must be 100 years old before being published. A copy of any record can be obtained by contacting the Arkansas Health Department. Arkansas began keeping birth records in 1914 officially, but many births were not filed. If your ancestor was living in 1942; they could file for a “Prior” birth certificate.
Arkansas Township Atlas, 1819-1930 $30 – This soft bound book is an index of the civil divisions in the 75 counties of Arkansas. The maps show the locations of each township within the county and regional maps of the entire state. Counties are listed alphabetically with the origin of the township and the change of names through the years. This is a valuable resource in locating the township of your Arkansas ancestors. This book was compiled and donated to AGS by Russell P. Baker and revised in 2006.
ARKANSAS POST OFFICES: From Memdag to Norsk, A Historical Directory, 1832-1990 $30 – This soft bound book is an index of the post offices in Arkansas. The post offices are listed alphabetically with dates that the post offices opened. If the post offices are no longer in operation, the date they closed is included with the land description. This is a useful resource in locating the post offices from the census records. It has comments about many of the post offices and the person for whom the post offices were named. This book was compiled and donated by Russell P. Baker and revised in 2006.
Research in the States: Arkansas, 2nd Edition (2019) $20 – This 50-page softbound book is published by The National Genealogical Society as part of their Research in the States series and was written by Lynda Childers Suffridge. Lynda lectures on Arkansas research at national conferences and at the Samford Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research. This book contains a concise history and geography of Arkansas and describes major record sources and repositories both in Arkansas and outside of Arkansas. It is a valuable resource for researching Arkansas ancestors.
COLUMBIA COUNTY, ARKANSAS, CEMETERIES $70 – In 2001 and 2002, Marcia Chapman and Doris Fletcher canvassed all 135 known cemeteries in Columbia County, Arkansas. This book contains an alphabetical list of over 31,000 people buried in the county, including some not having stones or markers. The entries are annotated with information found in obituaries. Hard bound, 666 pages.
COLUMBIA COUNTY, ARKANSAS OBITUARY INDEX 1948-2004 $60 – This index is a valuable supplement to the cemetery book and includes 26,000 entries for obituaries primarily from the Magnolia Banner News. Copies of the obituaries are available from the Columbia County Library in Magnolia, Arkansas. Hard bound, 492 pages.

Arkansas Prior Birth Index $15 – This complete USB Flash Drive contains all of the over 550,000 records found in the fifteen volumes of ARKANSAS PRIOR BIRTH INDEX combined in a database searchable by the birth name, mother’s maiden name and county of birth. The viewer which makes the database searchable requires Windows, but the USB Flash Drive contains a set of pdf files which can be searched and printed from a Mac as well as Windows.

Arkansas Voter Lists 1867 $15 – A searchable index of the first voter registration after Civil War for 25 counties.
The Arkansas Family Historian: 1962-2011 CD $15 – A searchable PDF of every issue of The Arkansas Family Historian between 1962 and 2011.The issues are organized so that each decade of the journals may be searched at one time.
Masonic Deaths in Arkansas 1838-1916 CD $12.50 – This CD is an index of the deaths of Masons in Arkansas from 1838 to 1870 and from 1884 to 1916. The missing years of 1871 to 1883 were not available to the compiler at that time. Mrs. Arlene LaGrone indexed the information from the Annual Proceedings of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of the State of Arkansas. She donated this index to the Arkansas Genealogical Society for publication. The first section lists the Masonic Lodges with the county, date of charter and date disbanded. The last section lists the name, date of death, name of Lodge, location of Lodge and Lodge number.
